Article: How often should I change my sheets?

How often should I change my sheets?

Changing your bedsheets regularly is important for hygiene, skin health, and sleep quality. While you sleep, a lot more ends up in your bedding than most people realise.

1. Sweat and Body Oils.

Your body releases sweat and natural oils overnight. These soak into sheets and pillowcases, which can:

  • Create odours
  • Feed bacteria
  • Make fabric feel greasy or uncomfortable over time

2. Dead Skin Cells.

Humans shed millions of skin cells every day. Many of them end up in your bed, where they accumulate in sheets and pillowcases.

3. Dust Mites

Dust mites feed on those dead skin cells and thrive in warm bedding. Their waste particles are a common trigger for allergies and conditions like Allergic rhinitis and Asthma.

4. Bacteria and Fungi

Warm, moist bedding can allow bacteria and fungi to grow. This can contribute to skin irritation and sometimes worsen conditions like Acne.

5. General Cleanliness and Better Sleep

Fresh sheets simply feel and smell better. Clean bedding can make your bed more comfortable and help you relax when going to sleep.

To help combat these chose bedding with 100% natural fibres, such as our linen and cotton. Natural fibres allow air to move through the fabric more easily. This helps keep your body temperature stable during sleep.

Our top tips:

  • Open the blinds and windows for 10–20 minutes each morning and pull back your duvet so the mattress and bedding can release moisture. The fresh air and UV light will help to kill the bacteria and dry the moisture.
  • Change bedsheets about once a week

If you sweat a lot, have allergies, or sleep with pets, every 3–4 days can be better.

the science

why choose linen cotton blend?

Sleeping in linen offers comfort that only gets better with time.

Naturally breathable and temperature-regulating, linen helps keep you cool on warmer nights and cosy when it’s cooler, making it perfect for year-round sleep. Its moisture-wicking fibres allow air to flow freely through the fabric, creating a fresh, dry sleep environment.

By mixing 33% cotton into the blend the fabric becomes soft yet durable.

Linen bedding becomes even more relaxed and smooth with every wash, turning your bed into a place you’ll always look forward to sinking into.
